CWS Food Drive
As food stamps for refugee families come to an end on September 1, CWS is expanding their food pantry to meet the growing need. While they’ve always offered a small selection of items, they are now working to develop a much more robust program.

Learning Group - The Color of Compromise
Whether you are deeply invested in the topic of the Church and racism or are curious to dive in deeper, Andy will be leading a learning group on this topic this Fall. This book study and discussion group will engage with The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby, to examine the intersection between the American church and racism.
The book is an historical survey (not a comprehensive analysis), revealing specific examples of a black-white racial divide in the American church from the 1600’s up to present day. The goal of the book is not to create guilt nor historical villains, but to spark conversation and further study. Our discussions of the book will lean on listening and learning in order to be a part of fostering more inclusive environments in the future.

Reach Sunday
Reach Sunday – Sign Up to Serve!
We’ve received all our project requests for Reach Sunday on September 28, and now it’s time to jump in and serve!
One of the many things I appreciate about MCC is our shared conviction that we are called to serve beyond the walls of our church. Your generosity in giving to the mission of the church enables our staff and ministry teams to create these excellent service opportunities in the Mechanicsburg community. If you’ve never served with us on a Reach Sunday, let September 28 be the first time you experience this side of our community.
CLICK HERE to view the list of projects and sign up to serve.
Friendly Reminder:
On Reach Sunday, we’ll be meeting in groups throughout the community, so there will be no regular worship gathering at the middle school. Let’s be the church out there as we go, love, serve, and care together!

Mechanicsburg Community Dinner
There are some people in our communities who we won’t see darken the doorstep of our churches—but because of God’s grace, they are quick to sit down at a table with us for a good meal. Kathy Ansel reflected on her experience with her downtown neighbors: “Toward the end, the friend told me about a deep regret and a tragedy from his childhood… he said he was able to forgive that person. I feel that was only the beginning of making a God connection.” God has a habit of using these sorts of spaces to work out His redemptive love. If you’d like to be involved with this work, save the date for September 28 from 5–7 p.m. and sign up here.

Run for Freedom
Peace Promise continues to do incredible work helping women escape and recover from the human trafficking industry. On October 4, you have an opportunity to help support their work with these incredible women! Please mark your calendars for Peace Promise’s 5K, dubbed “Run for Freedom.” Whether you’d like to sign up to run/walk or volunteer at the event, your engagement helps further the mission.

Baptism
Our next baptism service at MCC will be on Sunday, October 12! If you (or your child) have committed your life to Jesus Christ and have not yet taken the step of baptism, we invite you to prayerfully consider this meaningful expression of faith.
Baptism is a beautiful way to publicly declare your trust in Jesus and celebrate the new life He gives. If you’re interested, we’d love to sit down with you to share more about what baptism is, why we practice it, and how we celebrate it together as a church family.
Please contact Pastor Steve, Pastor Cheryl, or Pastor Faatimah if you’d like to take this important step in your faith journey.
