The Sabbath Practice - Learning Group
You’re invited to join a 5-week learning group open to anyone who wants to explore and practice the biblical principles of Sabbath rest. Together, we’ll walk through the book The Sabbath Practice by John Mark Comer and learn what Scripture says about slowing down, resting deeply, and reconnecting with what matters most.
Whether you’re new to the idea of Sabbath rest or looking to grow in your practice, this group is a welcoming space to learn, reflect, and build rhythms of rest into everyday life.
Dates and Times:
May 17th, 9:15–10:30 a.m., inside the Middle School
May 24th, 8:15–9:30 a.m., outside under the pavilion at Trails n Trees
June 7th, 14th, and 21st, 8:15–9:30 a.m., at Trails n Trees
Book Cost: $10.00 (If cost is a problem, please let me know.)

Summer Location
Outdoor Worship Is Back! Can you believe summer is almost here? That means it’s time to worship outside in God’s beautiful creation! From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend (with the exception of May 31 which is a Reach Sunday), we’ll be gathering for Sunday worship at 9:30 AM at the Trails and Trees Environmental Center—instead of our usual spot at the middle school.
Our first outdoor service will be on Sunday, May 24. Don’t forget to bring a chair and dress for the weather. In case of rain or severe weather, we’ll move indoors to the Environmental Center building.
Parking Information:
Please park in the Mechanicsburg Middle School lot, to the left side of the building, and walk through the fenced-in area to follow the path to the pavilion. There are about 10 parking spaces available at Trails and Trees (accessible via 1731 S. York St.) for those with physical limitations. If this isn’t you, please help us reserve those spots for those who need them.
Reach Sunday
Do you know someone who could use a hand? Our next Spring Reach Sunday is on May 31st, when we will cancel our regular worship service to instead serve our community.
We’ve got some great volunteer opportunities lined up through our community partners, but we also want to source service opportunities directly through you! We’re encouraging you to reach out to friends, co-workers, and neighbors who could use a little help. Whether it’s end-of-season landscaping, cleaning, or something larger in scope, we’d love to help you help that friend! Know someone who could use a hand? Submit their name and project details here by May 3rd.
