Trauma Informed Ministry Training

To better serve our community we are partnering with McBIC kids and CWS to offer a special trauma informed ministry training for anyone who volunteers with MCC Youth, MCC Kids, Refugees, or foster/adoptive kids. This event is intended for those specific ministries but open to anyone who’d have interest.

Our guest presenter, Cindy King, serves as the Equipping Director for this ministry, leading a team of three in educating across the state, providing 1:1 coaching to foster, adoptive, and kinship parents, and teaching weekly online trainings called Equipping PA Families

"Creating Trauma-Responsive Spaces for Children" is brought to you by Keystone Family Alliance (KeyFam). KeyFam works with churches across PA to educate, motivate, and equip every believer in the state on the needs within the child welfare system, and encourages churches to work together to meet those needs. The equipping ministry of KeyFam was developed in early 2024, recognizing that if we are encouraging believers to step up to foster and adopt, thereby bringing the mission field into their homes, then we need to adequately support and train all of the places where their children will go - churches, schools, summer camps, etc. We quickly realized, however, that trauma-informed care is beneficial to everyone as we understand human behavior and why people do what they do, particularly those who have experienced early, relational trauma. This training will cover early relational trauma and how it impacts the developing child, affecting the child's brain, body, biology, belief systems, and behavior. We will also talk about how to apply that knowledge and create spaces where children can find healing.
