Transforming

On January 18, we are going to begin a new 4 week series called “Transforming”.  Transforming means the process of changing the condition, nature, character, form or appearance of something.   In this series we will talk about the on-going process of changing and growing into something new.  I want to take a look at one of my favorite passages in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 3: 16-18) that speaks about this transforming process.  The first week we will talk about what it means to turn to the Lord – But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.  As we turn to the Lord, this veil is removed…in other words there is no longer separation between us and God, meaning we can have relationship and connection to the Creator of the universe.  In the second week, we will discuss what it means to experience God’s presence and the freedom that comes along with it.  For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  That freedom that we experience when we are in relationship with God causes us to want to share or reflect this to others (which will be our discussion the third week).  So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.  And then the last week, as we will talk about how as we continue on this transforming process we will live more and more like Christ.  And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
